Jamia Hamdard Program At BII (Study Centre Code:3304)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN CHEMINFORMATICS (PGDC)
( One Year Distance Learning Program, Course Code-0652)

Program Objectives

The programme aims to create a workforce, with a sound knowledge in Chemistry and computer technology with applications in the upcoming areas of drug design and development.

Career Prospects in Cheminformatics

The rising tide of data being generated by high-throughput approaches to drug screening is slowly bringing about a chemical revolution. Cheminformatics thus is becoming a big business. Those indicators are growing stronger for cheminformatics — also called cheminformatics or chemical informatics. Just as the genomics boom created a need for bioinformaticians, an explosion in the amount of data generated by combinatorial chemistry and other high-throughput approaches to drug screening and drug design is creating a demand for chemoinformaticians. Cheminformatics experts are in great demand. The demand for cheminformatics expertise has come primarily from the pharmaceutical industry. But chemistry – database creation and searching, and high – throughput technologies, have become increasingly important to the chemistry industry as well. Their jobs can range from the management of a database of structures and biological data, to work involving combinatorial chemistry.

Program Eligibility

A candidate seeking admission to the above programme must have passed B.Sc. or equivalent examination with Chemistry as one of the subjects from a recognized institution. No age bar.
